About Us
ALIENDE – Association for Local Development is a non-profit private association established in 1994 . It was recognized as an Entity of Public Utility in January 2008, it is equated to youth association since 2010 and it was accredited as a training provider since 1999.
Initially based in city of Évora, Aliende has moved its headquarters to Montoito in June of 2000.
Our Mission
The ALIENDE´s mission is:
“Promoting the sustainable and integrated development at local level with the purpose to combat the human desertification and social exclusion in micro-regions of Alentejo” .
ALIENDE undertakes to:
- Primarily, promote, support and undertake local development activities ;
- Promote the development of human resources through VET activities;
- Streamline business activity including tourism and crafts ;
- Valorise the local culture, the natural environment and built heritage ;
- Promote social and cultural activities and support disadvantaged social groups .
